'Brother Sport' on repeat
I keep worrying that I’m going to make myself sick of this album…not sick yet though…not by a long shot…

Posting something to the effect of ‘I am listening to and really enjoying Merriweather Post Pavilion’ on The Internet is like pissing into the sea. None the less, sometimes you just have to go.
Pitchfork: I imagine the way you make music by yourself is very different from the way you make music with Animal Collective.
Noah Lennox: Yeah, it's super different. I mean, it starts in the same place, but after that, it's pretty heavily different. Obviously, it's a lot more interactive when you're working with a group of people; you can come up with things that you never could have come up with on your own because you're bouncing off these other people's ideas and personalities and styles of doing everything. I feel like you can surprise yourself a lot more working with other people. When I was working on my own, I just-- almost not think about it, just mellow out in a way. It was a very low-energy process compared to working with Animal Collective.
Pitchfork: Do you have an idea when you're thinking music, whether it's more of a Panda Bear idea or an Animal Collective idea?
NL: Going into that process, I have already decided that I'm writing a song for me, or I'm writing a song for Animal Collective. There have been one or two instances of me switching over after the fact. But just logistically, if I'm writing a song for myself, usually I'll work pretty fast. So if I'm doing a song for myself, I'll produce the shit out of it right after the fact, and that won't really work so well when you're bringing it to the table for three other guys. There's no space to insert their personality and their character into it. So if I'm writing for the band, [I] have to make sure to keep it more stripped down and empty. There's got to be space for other people to get involved.
Pitchfork: What was a typical day like when you were recording Strawberry Jam?
Noah Lennox: It was the same every day. We rented this house about a half-hour drive out of Tucson, and every morning we'd wake up and pile in the car after having some coffee and something to eat, drive the 30 minutes, and listen to a bunch of jams on our way there. We'd work, steadily, from about 11 in the morning to about 9 or 10 at night, and then go home. Usually at some point during the night we'd listen to what we'd been working on that day, to get a different perspective on it, and just to hear how it sounded out of a different set of speakers, or a more normal set of speakers. And we'd just hang out at night, that was the comedown time. It wasn't too stressful, but definitely very involved work, pretty much all day long.

On Routines
Now that I’m obsessed with this blog about daily routines, I decided to reflect on my own, both proposed and realized.
I’m constantly trying to revise my schedule…get it locked down, get it right…want to be as productive as I can.
A lot of it has been trial and error and learning about self-discipline. My routines are always works in progress.
This spring, I had intended...
